Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia
Still getting used to this process again so please excuse the blogging glitches
We flew from Fort Lauderdale to JFK to Halifax International. Woke up at 4:30. Got to this lovely house at 4:30 ish. So, long travel day, even though Mavis, baby extraordinaire, did fine the adults were weary.
This house is about 20 minutes outside of Halifax. We’ve had overcast skies since we got here so photography is less than gorgeous, When the light is nicer I’ll take some shots of the house.
So, we found the house in our 2 rental cars, got oriented by the gracious and rightfully, full of pride, owner and took off to get provisions.
About 5 minutes up (or is it down??) the hill is a regular grocery store called Sobeys. Shopping was fun and took us forever. We ended up buying lobsters in the store and having them steamed there. The guy did a perfect job. They were delicious and we were a mess.
Teresa and I went to the liquor store and got a great education on Nova Scotia wines. We tasted about 4 different wines and bought a bottle of each and a sparkling wine for dinner. Must return to that store to taste more!
So far, Canada is pretty much like the US but they call the bathrooms, washrooms and there are no mixers at all in the liquor store.
I took some pics this morning of the flowers around this yard even though is was so damp out:
Can’t wait for Kathryn and Tyler to join us!
Looking forward to reading and seeing this area. I would love to visit this area some day.
The flower with green and silver leaves is lamium. You were right about the lupine.
Love the photo of the peony which is one of my favorite lessons in Chinese Painting class. Have always wanted to visit Nova Scotia. Enjoy! Thank you for allowing me to live vicariously through your wonderful comments and photos.
