Another Great Day in Paradise
Knowing that Saturdays are very crowded in town, we decided to go on a little field trip to the islands. First we had to take our garbage around the corner where I noticed this:
We came back to check the boat times and we had just enough time for a quick coffee at the WeCrociferi bar.
The boat was pretty full but it’s a big one and Ken and I stayed on the deck for the views and the breeze. This was our first really warm day. We got off at Mazzorbo and walked all around the small island. It is colorful and very peaceful:
We enjoyed the house gardens, roses and the cemetary before we crossed the bridge into the well known lace-making island of Burano. There were plenty of tourists walking the streets but we were able to go down other streets and explore.
We stopped at Trattoria Veccio for lunch. My first “fritto misto” of the trip was delicious!
Walking back to the vaporetto we saw this sobering street sign:
The boat was very crowded but a lot of people got off at Torcello so we were fine. Had a nice conversation with a young British couple just here for the weekend.
After our “pausa” we took another walk over into Castello and to the Coop near the hospital.
I had some sausage I needed to cook and we had the left over pasta too so dinner was easy. Just as we were about to sit down Elisa came to our door with a big platter of artichokes and tomatoes. A total surprise! We just tasted some of it and put it into the refridgerator for tomorrow.
Another great day in paradise!
Happy Mother’s and Grandmother’s Day!!! Sounds like every day is a celebration – what a fabulous trip. We leave in two weeks and I read every word you write in preparation for our crazy adventure. Can’t wait to trade tales when we get back late in June.

Oh how we lived those boat rides. Your first photo is why I always took my camera with me in Venice. Marvels and magic everywhere.
