Going Home…to Venice
After breakfast in the B&B in Bergamo, we went for a nice walk:
and picked up some sandwiches to take on the train later on. We stopped for a coffee at Massimo’s favorite spot.
We had to check out by 11:00 and the train was not until noon so we sat for a while just outside of the station for some fun people watching. It’s a really nice park-like area, unlike most cities:
Trains were uneventful. The first one, to Brescia, slow, hot and crowded and the second one, fast, cool and roomy. We got on the vaporetto and Elisa met us at the Fondamente Nuove stop to walk to the apartment.
Home. (This is our third stay in this great apartment and we are so comfortable in it.) We are delighted to have two weeks here! But many things have changed, Elisa tells us, in Venice and in the neighborhood. Our close by Coop is still there so we went and did an initial shopping. We almost stopped for a spritz in a new place but they had really loud music so we just came home. I made Ken’s favorite, pasta Al’Amatriciana, for dinner and drank a pretty decent Valpolicella which was €5 at the Coop.
On our after dinner walk we did manage to get a little lost for a minute and we ran into Nan who was meeting some friends for dinner.
After all I’ve been reading about multitudes of tourists here, we both agree it does not seem crowded at all. Of course, we are not at San Marco or Rialto.
So glad to be here. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this view:
Lovely to see you “home again”. Enjoy!
You saved the best for last! Enjoy!
Nor would I tire of that view. We always went to Venice last because it was always the best at least for us. So lovely to think of you back there.
