Alba Day
We started off the day with coffee, as always, and a nice walk through Alba. Each of the neighborhoods has a special banner and it adds to the general loveliness of the city to see them hanging out the windows and on the streets.
Intrigued by the sign below, we wandered into a wonderful experience meeting the group of disabled young adults and their teachers. Linda and I each made a small purchase from their handi-works shop.
We revisited the Church of San Lorenzo, the Duomo of Alba, for Steve and Linda who were duly impressed.
We went into a very nice wine and spirits shop where Linda and Ken both got something sweet to drink. The guy working there recommended a restaurant very nearby for lunch. L’inedito is a place I had read about on Gambero Rosso so I was game to try it. They had a special truffle tasting menu, but we opted for ala carte dishes. We all shared everything so we ate: a beautiful autumnal salad with pheasant, hearty pumpkin soup, a chunky sformatino of vegetables which was sliced off of a loaf and had the super rich fonduta sauce, barolo (yes, reddish pasta) taglialini with a duck and chestnut ragu and one dish of tajarin with butter and truffles. We all shared one delicious dessert which they translated as Barolo tiramisu. I loved the food, but felt way too stuffed for comfort. We walked back to our end of town (maybe a 7 minute walk) and had a nice long afternoon rest time.
Steve and Linda came here for some wine, bakery pizza, farinata, and great conversation.
We went for a nice stroll later. It was NOT raining! Saw this quirky store window with a bunch of plastic bottles in a big frame:
Another sweet day in Alba. Here’s our door where we are feeling quite comfortable:
My kind of day! Wehad pasta made with red wine in a restaurant on our private wine tasting tour outside of Venice a LinkedIn time ago. Food and easy pace sound delicious.
