Just a Fine Day
This was one of my favorite kind of days in Italy–when we just “live” here and do our daily routine. We started with coffee just down the street but it wasn’t nearly as good as the previous one. And on to the TIM store to get our Italian sim card for my phone. The woman was very nice and we managed to do the whole transaction in Italian which Ken says is a first for me.
Then, I had made an appointment to take a private Pilates reformer class so I went to that. Oh, did I love it! My body really needed to break a sweat and move in that way. The young woman was a really good little teacher and seemed to be thrilled with me. At the end she asked my age and even took a selfie with me to remember. I gave all credit to my teacher in Tallahassee, Sue Carpenter. Having done the class really lifted my spirits.
Walking home from the class, I stopped in at the bakery and got some provisions for lunch. I had made a big pot of vegetable soup and with the bakery stuff (olive pizza and whole wheat foccacia) we had a nice lunch.
We still haven’t seen the sun but we decided to go for a real walk into the main tourist/historic area of town.
And we went into the duomo. Like the door above, there is an interesting mix of modern and ancient in this town. Check out this elaborate light fixture in the church.
We walked for about an hour in the mist and then found “La Piccola Dispensa” which was recommended by our airbnb owner. They have some prepared foods , fruits and vegetables and wine too. With a bit of left over ravioli and the delicious sausage and peppers and cooked cauliflower we got there, we had a nice dinner–Oh and a bottle of Nebbiolo d’Alba too.
It rained again most of the evening so we played cards. Sad truth: Ken is able to stream MSNBC here so he is still watching a lot of news. Me? I’m taking a break.
Hi Jan, your travel postings are the highlight of my day! I’m glad you enjoyed pilates, Italian style. The pictures you send are fabulous.
Thanks for sharing,
Betty
We never turned on a TV for 31 days on our cruise/Italy trip. I loved the break from all the political drama and craziness. Wish I could do it at home. Enjoy your time. Hope the sun comes out soon!
Pilates in the Italy, How great is that!k
Love the colors in the pics, Jan.
Pilates in Italy – Wow! I always used the fact I was walking more to avoid other exercise. Love your photos and food write ups.
