I really have very little to write.

We spent the whole morning inside because of the threat of exceptionally high acqua alta, over 155 again.  Watching out the windows we could see the water rising, overtaking our walkway gently and then with waves coming up onto it and into the ground floor of our building.  I have said so many times that I would never get tired of our beautiful view of the lagoon and today it remained fascinating in a new way.

I enjoyed the enforced rest.  I am reading a David Hewson book set in Venice and Murano which is keeping my attention.  I did a bunch of cyber browsing for Christmas and watched the first episode of the Amazon series “Modern Love.”

In the early evening I decided to check and see if our nearby Coop (it’s called Coop Giorgione) was open.  It was and I did a bit of shopping.  The lines to pay went all the way to the back of the store, but I enjoyed my wait by talking to a young student here for 2 years, from Ancona.  

I bought some cut up turkey breast to add to our soup for dinner for some protein.  Just before I started to cook it, Elisa came down with a platter of bieta (chard) and potatoes.  I swear it was the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time!  

Ken was glued to the painful impeachment hearings.  I can take it for about 15 minutes and that’s it.
