Mazzorbo and Burano
Wow! A picture perfect sunny, breezy fall day was on tap.
We all walked to the Puppa for coffee. We’ve seen this elegantly dressed woman twice so far. The picture doesn’t do her justice with her high top sneakers encrusted with pearls and crystals and the outfit to match.
Into San Marco, Ken went toward the Piazza with L&S while I headed towards Campo San Luca for Pilates. I heard someone say “hey stranger” and it was our friend Jill who we hadn’t seen yet. I was so happy to bump into her and we got to talk for a few minutes before my Formamentis Pilates mat class started. Again on the dreaded foam roller! But it was a pretty good class, and my body thanked me all day for doing it.
L&S had gone to the Secret Itineraries tour and met us back at the apartments (navigating all by themselves) raring to go. So we jumped on a very crowded #12 boat to Burano. We got off at Mazzorbo in order to walk a bit in the more natural setting and avoid some of the crowds.
Hungry, we tried to get into Venissa but their kitchen was closed—it was just 2:00. They have a very interesting outside exhibit called “Suspended Animals” in their fields, which we really didn’t give enough time to.
Walking on the main street in Burano, I remembered I had had a really great frittura in a place there last year. Based on the color scheme and location we went into Trattoria da Romano. But I was wrong, and we had a pretty mediocre lunch of fried fishy things and grillled vegetables along with a bottle of Prosecco and wonderful service and atmosphere. Later, we found the restaurant from last year, but it was closed.
We did some shopping and walking along the street and came home on the boat in this beautiful light.
Dinner was extended vegetable soup and cheese toast and more great stories all around. TTFN.
Wow, yes! Amazing color on those last 3 pics especially. I love the colors of and on the buildings, the pic of the water and sky that goes deep, and of course those love birds! Sending love to all of you.
Another delightful read. Love the ride to the other islands.ruth edenbaum
