A Blustery Day
Nasty rain and strong winds are not the tourist’s best friends. Luckily, I was ready for a “down day” and so we rested and relaxed most of the morning. I really wanted a coffee and and to pick up some bread so we headed out. An umbrella is no use on this kind of day as you can see here at the bottom of the bridge:
By the time we walked the very short distance to the Puppa bar we were pretty wet and by the time we came back from the bakery shoes and socks and pants were soaked. This is when the radiators come in really handy!
After lunch I saw a break in the rain and took some extra food stuff over to Amy and Larry and had a quick visit with them.
I cooked some chicken stew and greens for dinner and then we met Larry and Amy at the Combo for a drink. Things were wild there; they are setting up for Biennale displays and were preparing for a music event that night but we found a nice little corner to sit and chat.
Walking back we decided we should invite them for dinner and so we did. We ate and drank and enjoyed each other’s company. A&L had stopped at the fruit and vegetable stand for some really delicious strawberries which we enjoyed for dessert. What can I say? Life is good.
I loved this post. A cozy night in with friends. The rainy adventures are so great. I bet the chicken stew was perfect, As were the strawberries, wine and companionship.
