Buona Pasqua/Happy Easter
All day there were lines of people under our windows, waiting for the boat to Burano. We had a great little people watching show parading by whenever we wanted to watch.
After a nice visit with Shannon, Marcia and David, Ken and I went for a walk. Of course we stopped for a coffee at Puppa Bar first. We took the “back way” over to the Miracoli Church and then to Giovanni e Paolo and beyond, always trying to avoid the throngs. For the most part we were very successful and had most of the calles to ourselves. There was a mini antique faire happening at Giovanni e Paolo and a long line to get into the Libreria Acqua Alta, which is something I’ve never seen before.
I took a bunch of snapshots along the way:
We came home by way of the Rio Mendicanti and the bridges on Fondamenta Nove. All around the vaporetto docks there were tons of people.
Shannon gave us some great guidance about getting the train tickets in Barcelona and showed Ken a video of her beloved Castellers which we are planning to see. And we said our goodbyes to intrepid and full of life Shannon.
Our afternoon walk took us over the the Misercordia fondamenta. There are a bunch of new wine bars with outdoor seating right on the canal. Most were quite full.
After getting some cash (to pay Elisa the rent, we have to go a few days in a row so we don’t excede the ATM limit) we came home.
Cooking in the apartment felt good, but I was really missing my Bluetooth speaker, eliminated in the interest of lighter packing. Putting my phone in a bowl just doesn’t cut it.
Anyway, I made tagliatelle with onions and pancetta, which always reminds me of Marcella, and asparagus. We were happy with it and with our whole scene here.
Thank you, Jan. Brings back happy memories !!
Sounds like another lovely day, and your dinner sounds great too!
I remember your buying that speaker in Ft Myers!
Hey I envy all the different coffee tasting…
