The Butt of a Joke
Chasing this apartment rental for next year has become a bit of a project for us. Admittedly, I’ve become a little obsessive about it. Anyway, we had an appointment to meet an owner at 10:30. His apartment was so close to ours that we could our bedroom windows from his apartment. This would have been perfect, but he wanted too much money for it. He showed us a second apartment, but it was dingy and just not good. And we had to hear his whole life story. Oh well. It’s a process.
After the apartment viewing, we walked over to the knife sharpener to pick up my knife. Back to Strada Nuova, where we got some coffee and a croissant and on to busy Bisiol to stock up our refrigerator. They had freshly made porchetta which made for a fabulous lunch with some bread from Rizzo. And we got some other good stuff there including this mazzancolle in soar–basically pickled shrimp with onions and fabulous!
From there we went to the little organic and local produce shop and then came back home. The wisteria is really popping all over the town:
Our Venetian friend Jill messaged me about a local rental agency (Luxrest) she has worked with in the past and liked. So, in the afternoon we went in search of one of their places that looked nice on their site. It doesn’t seem too far, so I will email them.
Elisa and Pietro came to visit to ask about our apartment search and gifted us a bottle of wine.
We wanted to go to the church of Geremia e Lucia (Jeremy and Lucy) which we had never before visited.
So, another walk down Strada Nuova towards the train station. We enjoyed the church–no photography allowed. But the best part was seeing this young woman with her naked bottom exposed in her way-too-short skirt. It was not so much seeing her as seeing the reactions of people as they saw her. I am wondering “what the heck is she thinking!!!” At first I didn’t take a photo of her, but then we were right behind (ha ha) her on the bridge and I couldn’t resist:
In the early evening we went down to the ticket booth on Fondamente Nove to add to our cards for the vap. I wanted to go before the crowds, or in this case after. As long as we were there we got our Alilaguna tickets to go to the airport. We went to the top of the next bridge to watch the light for a while:
Then we came home and ate some pasta and delicious broccoli from Sant Erasmo where we plan to visit tomorrow.
I’m loving your posts!!
