A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Yes, another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Sunny, springy, and nearly warm. Warm, to me, has to be above 70°.
We set out to San Marco to see an art show. It was in Palazzo Zaguri, new to me, in Campo San Maurizio. Actually Palazzo Zugari is the venue for the big Tutankhamon show. The Andrea Benetti show was in a smaller, attached room. Benetti is an artist of great renown (he presented in the Biennale of 2009) but, again, new to me. We really enjoyed his mixed media works:
After the small show, we wandered around the streets in that area of San Marco. Look at this gorgeous window:
And we found ourselves at the traghetto stop where we got a unique view of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, from across the Grand Canal:
And looking left there was this:
We walked to Calle Larga XXII Marzo to check out the designer shops and then turned left, back through San Marco and home.
For lunch we had our porchetta (not as good the second day) and some left over vegetables.
After a rest time, I got on my computer back on the earnest search for an apartment for next year.
Before dinner, we went for a nice walk around our little Gesuiti neighborhood. Canal shot from somewhere nearby:
I cooked us a nice little dinner and we tried the new wines we had–an upscale prosecco and a Ripasso. Both were fine.
I am getting some heebie jeebies about leaving, but knowing that we’ll be back next year is calming me a bit. It’s just random anxiety. I keep having dreams about being in airports. Hmm…
Hi Jan, I’ve enjoyed your posts and pictures so much! Thanks for allowing us to share your travels. Have a safe trip home.
Betty
Thank you for blogging. Always a special way to start my morning.
I looked up “Gesuiti,” thinking correctly that it probably comes from Jesuit, ie the order of Catholic priests known for scholarship. Was surprised to see that in Italy it can also mean “hypocritical”…
