Packing Day
As predicted, it rained significantly more than drizzled, all day.
We did a little packing and then Elisa came for a nice visit.
We geared up and went over the Ponte Dona to the Bar Cupido. The wind was really blowing hard!
We had our final tramezzini and spritz. I really like that place but it is usually very crowded. I never before noticed that they have hot food in the case so you could get a real lunch there too.
Came back and finished what we could of the packing.
Puppa Bar was scheduled for the final dinner, and it was perfect because it is so close and it was still raining. First, we went to the Coop Supermarket to buy a bottle of Select to take home. I am leaving behind my old sneakers and an old apron. We have a little bit of extra space and Ken is sure the bottle will fit.
Dinner at Puppa was very enjoyable. Masood, the owner, is out of town so maybe they are a little slow but it was fine. We sat next to two young Korean women here for just two days. They had heard about Puppa from Korean friends. Hope the rain will stop for them.
I had the spaghetti allo scoglio:
Walked home through the rain. Feeling a little sad but–better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. There must be a bunch of other clichés that would work here.
Early flight in the morning–Venice to Paris–to Miami and then home. About 24 hours door to door if everything goes as planned.
I really want to say thanks to everyone who commented–here and on Facebook. It is genuinely encouraging and I love it!
And a huge special thanks to Kim who somehow knows how to fix this crazy thing.
I’ll do some wrap up posts with photos that didn’t previously work.
Arrivederci for now.
Thank you for letting me walk with you through Venice, Jan. I looked forward to reading your writing each morning with a moka. Your descriptions and photos evoked so many memories. In fact you had me missing Venice so much, I went back through your blog and read all your Venice entries over the last decade–the next best thing to being there. Arrivederci and safe travels.
Just so you know, Total Wine/Spirits carries Select.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures. Your writing and photos make them come to life. Hope your trip home goes smoothly.
Safe travels. I love you. Josie
Loved your adventures, and after all am inspired to mix a negroni for the evening cocktail…
