Well, all of our big plans washed away in the wet streets. The weather apps called for rain all day and they were totally accurate.

So lazy and unwilling to face the rain, we just sat around the apartment all day.  We went out to an old fashioned spot for a coffee and a some sandwiches but barely made it around the whole block.  

We watched a mediocre movie, Dead Of Winter Winter with Emma Thompson which I do not recommend.  

Finally, with umbrellas and rain jackets we made our way to the Ribera Market, lively eating area. 

It kind of reminded me of the Time out Market in Lisbon—a bunch of counters selling various pintxos and wines.  We got 2 kinds of Spanish vermouth and some tastes of things.  Our favorite was the patatas bravas which were really just french fries.

We came back home, talked to Kathryn a bit and went to bed, glad we’d had enough time in Bilbao to absolutely waste a day.
