It’s Nasty Out There
Woke up to this:
All night long the wind was blowing, hard! We could hear the vaps banging on the docks. I went out to Cupido for coffee and the wind literally blew me back off my feet for a moment. It was “brutto”! Blustery to the max! After a while it stopped and looked like this the rest of the day:
So, we stayed in all morning until our date with Nan for lunch at my favorite restaurant in Venice, Vini da Gigio. On the way we could see debris that had blown off the buildings:
Lunch was wonderful. The food there is so fresh, perfectly cooked, the service impeccable, and the company so dear. We started with an order of cappelunghe/razor clams to share:
.
Ken had a fabulous fritto misto and I had grilled coda di rospo/monkfish with a great assortment of seasonal vegetables. Nan had one of her favorites, seppialini/baby cuttlefish. We let Paolo ( maybe that’s not his name) choose the wine and it was a delicious, well balanced Verdicchio from Le Marche, which went perfectly with the food. And Ken ordered a lemony, refreshing sgroppino for dessert, while Nan and I had coffee.
We walked part way with Nan, into Cannaregio, to find a wine shop she suggested. I really wanted a bottle of Franciacorta before we leave the north.
Dinner time rolled around and neither of us could think about food or wine so we just skipped it and did some laundry and preliminary packing for our next adventure.
Fat and happy, that’s us.

What a great day. Glad the weather cleared!
I love those Wild blustery Venice days… Description was perfect. The meal sounds perfect too and I also loved that plate that the razor clams were on… Sounds like a great day… I could almost feel it.
